Flood of 1997
On Friday, April 18, 1997, the Red River poured over the dikes that thousands spent hundreds of hours building. By the end of Saturday, April 19, floodwaters had taken much of Grand Forks, East Grand Forks and the University of North Dakota. The area was evacuated being declared a disaster zone, and 60,000 people were forced from their homes. Nearly every home in East Grand Forks, and most homes in Grand Forks fell victim to flood damage, including our Chapter house at 306 Hamline. Below are some pictures of the damage our chapter house suffered.
